#DearFutureCitizen (2019)

8 February—23 March 2019

RMIT Gallery, Melbourne

The participatory installation, #dearfuturecitizen, was part of the Model Citizen exhibition at RMIT Gallery, it invited audiences to reflect upon data and death. One of the key drivers of modern citizenship is the way data surveillance has become ubiquitous, effecting almost all areas of everyday life. #dearfuturecitizen asked audience members to sit on a fake island and contemplate the future of data in their life. Through postcard prompts, audience participants are asked to write on a postcard their hopes and fears for the future of data. It asked: how should living with data of the dead look and feel like?
